Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia has chosen to join Chelsea after feeling insulted by Liverpool, it has been revealed.
Lavia is set to sign for Chelsea on Wednesday after a fee rising to £58m was agreed with Saints.
Liverpool had an offer of £60m accepted for Lavia, but the player turned down the offer.
The 19 year-old believed Liverpool only ever saw him as a backup option to Moises Caicedo, now also of Chelsea, and felt slighted by the Reds' approach, says the Guardian.
The transfer tactics left Lavia and his camp unimpressed, so leaving the door open to Chelsea to make their move.
