Las Palmas midfielder Alberto Moleiro is eager to avoid comparisons with Barcelona star Pedri.

Like Pedri, Moleiro has come through the Las Palmas youth system and expected to leave for a bigger club.

The Spain U21 midfielder told Okdiario: "Yes, especially at first, when I started poking my head out in the professional world. It is true that they compared me, I do not know if physically or why.

"But hey, they compared me a lot with him. And well, I am proud to be compared to a world-class player like Pedri and above that he is a friend of mine. Then I am delighted and happy, I will have to make a name for myself on the field so that they do not compare me more with him."

Moleiro came close to joining Barca last season, with the club's financial issues thwarting the deal.

He added: "It is true that my representative told me something about that, but I was focused on Las Palmas to the death. I renewed with them and very happy to be in a large team like Las Palmas."
