Lallana targeting top four as Liverpool cruise past Swansea

Adam Lallana was eyeing a top-four finish for Liverpool following their 4-1 win over Swansea City on Monday night.

The former Southampton captain scored twice from a central midfield position as the Reds moved to eighth on the table which has them just five points off the fourth-placed Saints.

Lallana, who made the move from St Mary's to Anfield in the summer, admitted his transition to a new club had been made easy by his teammates who he was looking to push up the table with as the campaign progresses.

"I thought the lads were brilliant. I have always said it wasn't going to be easy making the move from Southampton but the lads have been great," he told Sky Sports.

"I have been playing more central and have been really enjoying it. It was great to get the goals and more important was the performance.

"We haven't put in many good performances this season and hopefully we have turned the corner.

"The pressure is always different coming to a team like this. Possibly how well Liverpool did (last season), the expectation came as a bit of a shock to a lot of the new signings. But we are bedding in with time.

"There is more gelling coming as a team. Our target is top four."

Lallana's brace came after Alberto Moreno opened the scoring in the 33rd minute and either side of Gylfi Sigurdsson's 52nd-minute response prior to Jonjo Shelvey's own-goal with just over 20 minutes remaining.

The victory was Liverpool's eighth of the season, four of which have come at Anfield, and two coming in their past five league fixtures.
