Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana says his experience in League One with Southampton was the making of him.
Lallana believes Morgan Schneiderlin would say the same.
He told the Daily Mail: "Look at Morgan Schneiderlin; a wonderful player. When he first came over at 18 he was quite soft. He's a good friend and would be the first to admit that. But in League One he started to become a proper player. He learnt how to tackle, and today that's one of his biggest assets.
"At Hartlepool or Carlisle on a Tuesday, you need the right mentality to play in games like that. I wouldn't change those days for anything. We got promoted. We won the Jonny Paint, which was great."
