LaLiga president Tebas offers new response to Vini Jr accusations: Nine reported racial slurs (eight against Vinicius)

LaLiga president Javier Tebas has offered a new response to Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Jr after Sunday's controversy.

After being subject of racial abuse at the Mestalla, Vini Jr dubbed Spain a "racist country" and accused LaLiga of turning a blind eye to the problem.

In response, Tebas posted to social media:

"1) Neither Spain nor LaLiga are racist, it's very unfair to say that.

"2) From LaLiga we denounce and prosecute racism with all the harshness in our power.

"3) Racial slurs have been reported 9 times this season (8 of which were against Vinicius). We always identify the thugs and send the complaint to the bodies that have to sanction. No matter how few they are, we are always relentless.

"4) We cannot allow the image of a competition to be tarnished which is above all a symbol of unity between peoples, where more than 200 black players in 42 clubs receive the respect and affection of all the fans every day, being the racism a phenomenon extremely relative to specific cases (9 complaints) that we are about to eradicate."
