Manchester City reserves boss Kenny Jackett was delighted with the form of young midfielder Marc Laird in this week's victory over Manchester United.

Laird was up against £17m man Anderson in the centre of midfield and the young Scot made him look fairly ordinary.

Jackett told City's website: "He's got terrific energy has Marc and an eye for goal as well. He made some good runs into the box and in the first half he was unlucky not to score once or twice.

"I'm very pleased with him, he's a very enthusiastic and energetic player, he can get you a goal going forward too."
