Laird hopes Bournemouth spell launches Man Utd breakthrough

Ethan Laird hopes his move to Bournemouth can help him achieve his Manchester United ambitions.

The young English defender has joined the Cherries on loan after spending the first half of the season with Swansea City.

And Laird is hoping his switch to the south Coast helps him achieve his dream of breaking through at Old Trafford.

"I could say so many names," Laird told the Bournemouth club website.

"So many people helped me, even caretakers to the coaching staff. It plays a big part in my heart, United always will do, that's where I want to be.

"Hopefully, to good enough levels to be called and used. Obviously, Manchester United is a big part of me.

"I can't wait to be there soon but obviously, now is the next step on the journey and I've got to help win games at Bournemouth and enjoy myself here."

He added: "I'm happy. I can't wait to get started really. We've got some games to win!

"[It's been] chaotic but that's part of football. You get your head around it and focus on what needs to be focused on, which is Bournemouth now.

"I think we all know it's Premier League standard [here], the facilities are brilliant. I'm enjoying the people here and have got to speak to a few of them. I know a couple of them as well, it's looking promising.

"I spoke to the gaffer a few times today as well, a quick catch-up and saying we can't wait to get started."
