Former Juventus striker Darko Kovacevic says they must buy in this month's transfer market.
Juve are the one team most likely to prevent Inter Milan from running away with the Scudetto this season.
Kovacevic told Gazzetta.it: "I don't want to put myself in (sporting director) Cristiano Giuntoli's shoes, he will certainly have his reasons if he doesn't make purchases.
"But if we talk about the pitch, it is undeniable that (coach Max) Allegri could use an extra quality midfielder to compete for the championship.
"(Adrien) Rabiot is an interior player of absolute value and I like how (Manuel) Locatelli plays the role of midfielder in front of the defence. Perhaps a third, more technically gifted interpreter is missing to form a perfect trio, worthy of a championship team."
