Klopp congratulates match-winner Benteke but wants more from Liverpool striker

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hailed Christian Benteke after the striker's match-winning contribution against Leicester City.

Liverpool brought an end to their run of four matches without a victory by claiming a hard fought 1-0 triumph over the Foxes at Anfield on Boxing Day.

Substitute Benteke was the man of the moment with a well-taken finish which prompted Klopp to the Belgian international for his contribution.

However, the German acknowledged that Benteke needs to work harder for the team if he wants to start regularly for the Merseysiders.

Klopp said: "We need his goals and he is a goal scorer no doubt, but I don't only think about him and goals.

"We are not a team who can play with a striker who scores a goal but is not involved in the game for the other 89 minutes. We need the striker for the other options too, to work for the other minutes.

"Christian came in, got a goal, it's good for him, good for us, a better situation than before.

"He can do this I know, what I said, we had a really good talk in the week, he knows what he has to do, he came in had a really good game, decided the game. And well done!"
