Kilmarnock striker Boyd eyeing Scotland recall

Kris Boyd is targeting a recall to the Scotland national team on the back of his impressive form with Kilmarnock.

The 30-year old former Rangers and Middlesbrough striker has netted six goals for Killie so far this season and is hoping to turn that form into more caps after last representing his country in 2010.

"I scored two and I should have had more," Boyd said after his match-winning double in Saturday's 2-0 win over Heart of Midlothian.

"But it was a great team performance and Hearts couldn't cope with us in the final third.

"I've always said I'd like to get back in a Scotland jersey but I want to be included on merit and earn the right.

"I don't want to be called up because of four or five call-offs from the squad.

"A call-up could be a long while away for me but all I can do is give myself the best possible chance and that is to keep scoring.

"I won't be upset if I don't get a call next month (for friendlies with the USA and Norway) but I'd love to be involved.

"I think I'd need 10 or 15 games to be at the level of international fitness."
