Juventus surgeon Rossi: Knee therapy only aggravated Pogba injury; he won't be able to run until...

Surgeon Roberto Rossi says Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba won't be able to hit the training pitch for eight weeks.

Rossi performed the knee operation on Pogba earlier this week and admits the initial attempt to undergo physio in order to recover from his preseason injury didn't work.

He told Tuttosport: "The conservative therapy did not work and aggravated the injury.

"When we intervened, there were no conditions to complete the suture of the torn meniscus. It was only possible to intervene with a meniscectomy.

"The lateral meniscus injury was complicated because the tissue was fragmented and the injury got worse."

Rossi also said: "We aim at eight weeks as the time necessary for Pogba to reintegrate to the team and return to training. From then on, the player will be evaluated weekly: he will come to JMedical where I will follow the evolution of the rehabilitation and the responses of the knee."
