Varane was unveiled to United fans before yesterday's victory over Leeds United.

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand posted to social media an exchange he had with Varane: “Welcome to Manchester United Raphaël Varane. Congratulations, win win win!"

Following the post was Ronaldo, who played with Ferdinand for United.

And the Portuguese commented on post, stating: "Great!"
