Juventus captain Alessandro del Piero was happy to play against Nancy in front of UEFA president and former Juve star Michel Platini.

At the end of the 1-1 draw, Del Piero said: "Today, the day was more important for him than for me. He gave me compliments and I am honored, he made history with Juve and in football.

"I currently do not think of a career as a manager like him, I have just renewed my contract.

"The attacking midfield role that I'm playing is not mine, but I'm adjusting smoothly."
