Recently retired Juventus star Claudio Marchisio has been held at gunpoint at his home in Turin.

Marchisio, 33, was with wife Roberta when four armed and masked men broke into his home at around 7:30pm on Tuesday night, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.

The group are believed to have forced Marchisio to hand over quantities of money and jewellery from the house.

They are said to have been armed with handguns with a terrified Marchisio calling police, with an investigation now underway.

Local authorities are now studying CCTV footage in an attempt to identify those responsible.
