Jota ditched FIFA tournee to hit double for Liverpool

Video game fans took a special interest in Diogo Jota's performance in Liverpool's win against Southampton yesterday.

The Daily Star says Southampton took the long journey up North to face Jurgen Klopp's side only to be stunned early on by the Portuguese winger.

Jota then doubled his, and Liverpool's, tally for the afternoon when he found the net in the 32nd minute.

However, to make it to Anfield on time for kick-off Jota had to pull out of his FIFA 22 International Qualifying match.

The 24-year-old had progressed to the fourth round of the tournament before he was forced to pull out.

However, after bagging his first goal of the clash, Jota cheekily celebrated by pretending to play on a games console.

The 24-year-old ran to the corner flag, where he sat with his legs crossed and pretended to hold a controller.
