Jordan Henderson insists he's not chasing the captaincy at Ajax.
The former Liverpool and Al-Ettifaq captain joined Ajax last week.
"Are you the new captain?" he was asked by one of the journalists at his presentation.
"No," answered Henderson.
"Do you expect to become the new captain?" the journalist then continued.
"No, I don't think so. What's wrong with the current captain? You don't like him?" said Henderson, "Listen. Steven (Bergwijn) is the captain, that is clear. I didn't come here to be captain. I want to do what I've been doing my entire career: be a leader."
Henderson also does not want to call himself the new Dusan Tadic or Daley Blind, players who recently wore the captain's armband at Ajax.
“They did a great job during their time as Ajax players," the midfielder praised.
"They are fantastic players with a good personality, that's what I heard behind the scenes. But I'm not going to compare myself to anyone else. I will always try to remain myself and do what I am asked to do."
