Inter Milan wing-back Francesco Acerbi admits defeat to Napoli last night would've "doomed" their season.

Acerbi laid on the winner for Edin Dzeko for Inter's 1-0 win.

He later said, "If we lost we were doomed, while by winning we still have hope of achieving important things.

"We played well, aggressive, strong, courageous, determined. Like we have to do now against Monza, because if we draw after everything we did against Napoli it is thrown away.

"We have the possibility of making a winning streak and we will try to win against Monza."

Acerbi added: "Maybe something was missing at the start of the season, we lost some points but Napoli did something extraordinary, they really won a lot. If we had a good championship, maybe we were only 3-4 points away. But this shouldn't be an alibi. This is a starting point."
