Stevan Jovetic says the presence of Roberto Mancini convinced him to move to Inter Milan.
The striker left Manchester City earlier this month.
“We had talked already about going to City," Jovetic told reporters at his official presentation.
“Then this summer he wanted me, he talked to me and he convinced me. The club showed me its project, and that motivated me to come to Milan.
“We've trained very well, and the friendlies helped us, despite the results. We're ready for Sunday, we can't wait to play.
“Friendlies are useful to experiment, but your legs are still heavy. There are so many new players, it takes time. But I hope we'll be ready for the start of the season.
"Third place? I think we can achieve that. There are a lot of good teams in this League, but we have a strong squad.
“Scoring in the derby [in Week 3]? I hope to score straight away against Atalanta! I know the derby is very important, I hope I can score against everyone."
