Inter Milan's players were calm after their 2-0 Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich.

Both teams had already qualified for the round of 16.

Stefan de Vrij later said: "The main thing was to qualify for the knockout stage and we had already done that in the previous round. However, we came here to play a great game. We knew that it was going to be difficult against this Bayern team but we gave everything.

"The path we made in the last weeks, the improvements – everything is visible and clear. Since the games with Barcelona, we have been playing with a different spirit and you can see that on the pitch, even from the players who had not had many chances previously."

Matteo Darmian also stated: "We approached the game in the best way from the beginning, we put in a good performance but they managed to score in our best moment. We wanted to play well even though we had already qualified. Unfortunately we were unable to score but we played better than the first match against Bayern. We are more of a team and it shows on the pitch."
