Inter Milan fullback Robin Gosens admits his hamstring problems have been difficult to take.
The injury has seen Gosens miss World Cup selection with Germany.
He told DAZN: “It's a difficult question, I'm also reflecting a lot because I want to understand how my body works and why it doesn't work the way I want it to.
“It was a very serious injury, maybe I underestimated the impact on my body. I didn't play for a year practically and without matches you can't have the rhythm and confidence you need.
“I'm coming along, I feel better and better and the last step is to play with consistency."
Gosens, however, is extra positive about Inter Milan's potential after the World Cup break.
“The worst has already passed, we came out of it well and Inter must have the ambition to go as high as possible.
“We have reached the Round of 16, in the league there is still a bit of a gap in terms of points but the season is long and no one knows how to finish. All we can say is that we are ready for whatever comes."
