Injury-hit Liverpool consider dealing in Lonergan

Andy Lonergan is being linked with a return to Liverpool.

The Mirror says the Reds have been forced to reassess their options between the sticks after number one Alisson went off injured in the first half of their 4-1 victory at home to Norwich on Friday night.

Adrian, signed only last week following his release from West Ham, came on in place of the Brazilian to make his debut for the European champions. The Spaniard is the only fit senior goalkeeper Jurgen Klopp has at his disposal, with Caiomhin Kelleher still on his way back from a broken wrist.

Liverpool could well offer a contract to free agent Andy Lonergan, who joined the European champions on their pre-season tour of the USA to provide cover between the sticks with Alisson on holiday and Kelleher injured.

The 35-year-old is available following his release from Middlesbrough at the end of last season and can still be added to Liverpool's squad for the league, despite the window closing last week.
