Manchester United legend Paul Ince says the club should look to develop Axel Tuanzebe rather than invest in another central defender.

The Red Devils broke the world record fee spent on a defender this past summer when they bought Harry Maguire from Leicester City.

And Ince thinks they can save their pennies by putting faith in Tuanzebe.

He told Paddy Power: "If United don't want to dip into the transfer market again and want to look a bit closer to home, they could do a lot worse than keeping faith with Axel Tuanzebe.

"I like him a lot and he could be one who could grow into the team. Of all the youngsters currently at Manchester United, he looks like one who could step up and start playing every week and I truly think he could go on to become a world-class player.

"I know he made a mistake against Arsenal but everyone makes a mistake every now and again and I like how calm he looks when he has the ball at his feet."
