Ian Harte exclusive: Sunderland right platform for Clarke; Leeds fans must watch for another Gray whizkid

Leeds United hero Ian Harte believes Sunderland was the right move for Jack Clarke.

The former Leeds trainee signed permanently for the Black Cats after a successful loan spell from Tottenham last season.

After losing his way at Spurs, Harte is convinced Clarke can rediscover the promise he showed at Thorp Arch.

Speaking to Tribalfootball.com on behalf of Bet365, Harte, also a former Sunderland player, said: "That youngster has incredible talent. He's still only young. He left Leeds and went to Tottenham and didn't get the opportunities that he probably deserved when he was there. But in football you've got to dust yourself off and I think he's gone to the right club, where he's getting loved, he's getting looked after, and the performances that he's put in so far this season have been brilliant.

"Hopefully he can continue to do that for the club.

"Yeah, he loves it at Sunderland. I think Tony (Mowbray) will be very good for Jack as well, because he takes time to talk to the players, tries to get inside their heads and makes them feel special. That's why I think Tony (Mowbray) is a great fit for Sunderland. Especially with all the other young lads and young players that are there as well."

Harte also tipped Leeds fans off about a second Gray, Harry, inside the club's academy system. The Irishman played with Archie Gray's father, Andy, at Elland Road and says the the family's presence at Leeds is secure for years to come.

"I haven't actually seen his son play if I'm being totally honest," adds Harte. "Of course, lots of people have spoken about it. But he's got two kids at Leeds who are doing really well.'
