I'll miss Sagna but Debuchy is an apt replacement - Arsenal's Arteta

Arsenal will miss Bacary Sagna but the signing of Mathieu Debuchy is more than sufficient according to Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners lost the 31-year old French right-back to Manchester City in the summer transfer window but brought in Debuchy from Newcastle United as a direct replacement.

New Gunners skipper Arteta admitted to Arsenal Player that he would miss Sagna's presence but felt that France international Debuchy would be able to step up and cover his absence.

"I'm going to miss Bac because I had a great relationship with him and their family and I think he was someone who is very liked in the changing room," said Arteta.

"On the pitch he was always going to give you a 'seven [out of 10]' and it's hard to find players like this. But Mathieu [Debuchy] looks very tough, very strong and he's got desire.

"The fact that he was playing in front of Bac in the national team, tells you enough about his quality."

Debuchy will get the chance to make his Arsenal debut when the north Londoners host Crystal Palace at the Emirates in their 2014/15 Premier League opener on Saturday.

Sagna is likely to make his City bow when the reigning English champions head to Newcastle on Sunday.
