Hull City appoint ex-Rangers, Ajax star Arvaladze as new manager

Hull City have hired Shota Arveladze as their new manager.

The Tigers have sacked coach Grant McCann, as they look to improve from a poor first half of the season.

The 48-year-old is a former Georgia international who played for Rangers at one stage in his career.

Arveladze has experience of management with clubs such as Kayserispor, Kasimpasa, Trabzonspor, and Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Hull have recently been purchased by Turkish businessman Acun Ilicali, who has brought in his own man as coach.

Arveladze said: "I want to say thank you to everyone who has given me this opportunity. I believe everyone who is in this sector in football wants to be in England and I am just really happy and my family is proud.

"I am so motivated and have the hunger to show this club can do well with the boys, with the quality, with the young talents that we have."
