Hull City boss Steve Bruce explained holding back his two midfield signings for defeat at Chelsea.

New signings Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore made their debuts off the bench after joining Hull last week.

"You have to be kind to the players who got you here," Bruce said.

"And believe it or not we've been trying to work on a system to play against Chelsea for two, three weeks."
