Henderson facing work permit delays at Ajax

Jordan Henderson is facing a delay over his anticipated Ajax debut.

The former Liverpool captain signed for Ajax last week after securing a free transfer from Al-Ettifaq.

The Sun says Henderson is waiting to obtain a work permit and cannot even train with the Amsterdam club. Ajax hopes that the debut will take place next Saturday, on the Heracles pitch, but the matter will only be resolved at the beginning of next week.

This means Henderson's first match could be against league leaders PSV Eindhoven on February 3.

Meanwhile, Henderson's number 6 shirt broke all sales records for the Dutch club. The veteran chose this number because 14 is unavailable, as it was retired after the passing of Johan Cruyff.
