Matt Hargreaves is set to take charge of Manchester United's summer market plans.

Hargeaves is stepping up after John Murtough departed as the club's technical director this week.

The Manchester Evening News says Hargreaves, the director of player negotiations, is now to take charge of transfers.

Hargreaves will run transfer policy while United continue talks with Newcastle United over a fee for Dan Ashworth.

Ashworth isn't expected to be involved in United's summer plans.
