Dutch legend Ruud Gullit says Liverpool deserve their success this season after showing great ambition in the transfer market.

For victory over Champions League opponents Napoli, Arek Milik was denied by Reds goalkeeper Alisson, who reacted quickly and made himself big enough to block the effort.

Liverpool snapped up the 26-year-old during the summer, splashing out a record-breaking £67m to bring him in from Roma.

The decision appears to have paid off as the Merseyside outfit have undergone a remarkable defensive improvement.

"Thank you, goalkeeper," he said.

"And this is why you buy a good goalkeeper.

"He only needs to save you four games in a year, four or five games in a year, you're happy with that."
