Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has stated that Pep Guardiola is not at the right Manchester club.

Guardiola had been incessantly linked to United over the last few years but the Spaniard will instead be making a move to the Red Devils' crosstown rivals Manchester City this summer.

United hero Cantona feels that his former side have missed out by failing to appoint Guardiola as their manager, suggesting that the former Barcelona boss is currently at the wrong Manchester club.

"Guardiola was the one to take. He is the spiritual son of Johan Cruyff," Cantona told The Guardian.

"I would have loved to have seen Guardiola in Manchester [United]. He is the only one to change Manchester.

"He is in Manchester, but at the wrong one."
