Grosso excited taking charge of Lyon: I'm here thanks to Frosinone

Former Frosinone coach Fabio Grosso is delighted taking charge of Olympique Lyon.

Grosso has succeeded Laurent Blanc as OL coach marking a return to the club for the former fullback.

He said, "As soon as the call came it was my first choice. I take this opportunity to thank the people who have shared these last two and a half years in Frosinone, it's thanks to them that I'm here. I will work to repay the trust," Grosso said in response to his first question of the morning.

“This city left me with incredible memories during my stay. I had the opportunity to return here and it is really something important for me to be the coach of this club. Yesterday I had the opportunity to see the great spirit that is in this stadium and in this club. The club is growing.

“We have to leave everything out on the pitch, give everything for this club. It's not enough to just say it. We have to bring the club back together to where it deserves to be and not in the current league position."

He continued: “I have clear ideas, I will work to transfer what I feel into the players. Convincing the players is the most difficult thing, but it's what I've already started to do.

“I don't care at all whether I was the first, second or third choice. The most important thing was that OL was my first choice. I chose to wait.

“I also had talks with Marseille, and then the managers made other choices. I told them 'good luck'. Then I waited for something that I really liked. I like to take risks."
