Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has admitted that Manchester United legend David Beckham is the reason why he wears the no.7.

Griezmann has often preferred the no.7 shirt for his club sides and his country France.

The attacker, who is moving on from Atletico this summer, revealed that Beckham was always an inspiration to him.

He wrote in a new book titled 'Getting to the Top of Wrold Football': "Throughout the history of Manchester United, some wonderful players have worn the number seven: George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham.

"Five Red Devil icons. But for me it's the blond-haired playmaker who represents the club best of all.

"His magical right foot was made for United, with whom he won one Champions League, two FA Cups and six league titles.
