Graziani: I wish Friedkins would sign Lukaku for Roma

Former Italy star Ciccio Graziani admits he was expecting from Roma's owners.

Graziani says the Friedkin family should be investing more in Roma's squad.

He told Il Corriere dello Sport: "I will not deny that for a while I hoped they would bring (Romelu) Lukaku to Roma, between a phone call from (Jose) Mourinho and an entrepreneurial blow from madness. Someone like this takes the team on their shoulders and rekindles your dreams. He, in addition to the three players already taken, would have been enough to close the transfer campaign in style and send everyone on vacation. Unfortunately, that won't happen.

"I've known charismatic coaches. Liedholm and Radice at the top. They had different characters but they were both extraordinary personalities. The Baron didn't trust anyone, we didn't speak freely with him: you had to record his glances, his aphorisms and decipher them.

"Radice never ceased to stimulate you. You scored, the team won, you were happy. He walked past you and said: 'All right, but if you don't score next Sunday too, it's all useless'. You answered: 'But at least leave me tonight eat a plate of pasta in peace, then from Tuesday we'll think about the next game.' He, dryly: 'Tuesday is late, let's do Monday'."
