Grayson exclusive: Ipswich boss McKenna my Manager of the Year - though Martin close

Former Leeds United and Preston North End boss Simon Grayson rates Kieran McKenna as his Championship Manager of the Year.

After leading Ipswich Town out of League One last season, the former Manchester United assistant coach has the Tractor Boys in contention for Premier League promotion.

Grayson told Tribalfootball.com: "Well I got asked this question a few weeks ago who would be my Championship manager of the year and I said that it would be him given how he'd taken Ipswich from League One last year with a remarkable run as well to get them promoted and then to continue it and play the style of football, the brand of football with a few players that were really sort of nomads in the lower leagues.

"He's got a lot of experience of English football, of the EFL and full credit that he's adapted and changed these players again into very good players

"Momentum and confidence plays a massive part in football and any sport in general. So he's going to be up there as manager this season with Daniel Farke.

"And Russell Martin at Southampton is in contention if he can go on a run from now to the end of the season as well."
