Girona want re-entry to Primera Division over match-fixing claims

Girona want re-entry to the Primera Division after reports of alleged match-fixing having taken place in Real Valladolid's final match of the 2018/19 LaLiga Santander season.

Girona finished the season third bottom and were relegated, but Real Valladolid could be deducted six points if institutional irregularities are proven and this would save the Catalan team given that they finished just four points behind them.

According to El Mundo and Cadena SER, this has led Girona to ask for the 2019/20 LaLiga Santander season to be planned with 21 teams.

Nothing is likely to be solved quickly, though, and LaLiga are believed to have rejected the possibility of a 21-team league for this reason.
