German broadcaster adds MLS to roster

German subscription broadcaster Sportdigital Fussball has added Belgium's Jupiler Pro League and USA's Major League Soccer to its portfolio of football leagues, reports SportBusiness.

The broadcaster, which recently added the word 'Fussball' ('Football') to its name to reflect a programming line-up now entirely focused on live coverage of different international football leagues, already holds rights to 13 other leagues and competitions around the world.

The agreements for sub-licensed rights to the Jupiler Pro League and MLS have been agreed with Sport1 and DAZN, respectively. The DAZN OTT subscription service in Germany will continue to show top live MLS games.

There is particular local interest in the MLS given the involvement of Chicago Fire's Bastian Schweinsteiger, the former German international star.
