Gera feels ready after West Brom reserves run-out

Zoltan Gera says he's ready to make his first team debut for West Bromwich Albion.

The Hungary midfielder got 45 minutes under his belt as he pulled on an Albion shirt for the first time since rejoining the club in the summer in last night's 3-1 reserves win over Arsenal.

"The ankle felt fine last night, it's just fitness that is the key now," Gera told the WBA website. "I thought I was in better shape before the game but I realise I need lots of work.

"I played 45 minutes but I felt tired in the first half so that was enough. I didn't feel as sharp but I think that's normal. You don't feel as fit as you would normally but I think I will be better.

"It's the head coach's decision if I'm ready for the Villa game. I'll work hard and if I play a short time I would be happy - but if I don't it's no problem.

"I'm not ready for a full game but maybe for 20 to 30 minutes. But it is the head coach's decision. He saw me last night and he knows what I can do because he knows me.

"When he thinks I'm ready I will be ready."
