Genoa striker Retegui eager to make Italy's Euros squad

Genoa striker Mateo Retegui admits he's targeting a place in Italy's Euros squad.

Retegui is coming back from injury and says the Euros is a target.

He told Cronache di Spogliatoio: "I really want to play in the European Championship. I know that I have to do well first here in Genoa with the team and later, if the coach wants me to go to the national team and calls me, I want it and I dream about it a lot. For me, playing for the national team is everything.

"I'm fearless because after the injury that hurt me I had a lot of fear, I had no confidence. Now I'm happy to be on the pitch."

On the advice he receives from Genoa coach Alberto Gilardino, Retegui added: "Many things, not just the coach, but all the staff. Every day they are close to me and they talk to me or someone from the team. The fact that my coach was a striker is much better for me, I exploit it and it's easier."
