Galatasaray winger Zaha: No Man Utd message with celebration; it was passion

Galatasaray winger Wilfried Zaha was delighted to get one over his old club this week.

The former Crystal Palace attacker was on the winning side against Manchester United in the Champions League.

Zaha, who had a short spell at United early in his career, scored in a 3-2 win at Old Trafford.

He stated post-game: “Not just that it was at Old Trafford but it's obviously my first Champions League goal.

“The Champions League is where I have dreamed of playing with the best players and I'm glad I've managed to score tonight to help us get the win. We are trying to win every game – that's the mentality, but tonight's win is a big message."

He added on the result: "We have belief because everyone in the team knows what we have between ourselves from training together; you see the talent. We just have to keep our cool and our talent will show eventually."

He went on to say: "An amazing night for the team. We came here to win and show we are resilient and we managed to get the win we wanted. Everyone knows about the talent Man United have, but it was about keeping our heads really. They are a good team and they had spells where they were all over us. The main thing was to keep our heads and we knew the chances would come and they obviously came."

On his goal celebration, he finished: "People think my goal celebration is a message, but it's something about passion. It was my first match in the Champions League, it was an explosion of emotions at that moment. What is important for me is to raise Galatasaray's name to the place it deserves - that is at the top. I believe we can achieve this when the team is as a whole, as it was tonight."
