Netherlands attacker Cody Gakpo sent a message to Virgil van Dijk after Liverpool beat Aston Villa in the Premier League.

The Reds enjoyed a winning return to their domestic league after the World Cup break.

Meanwhile, news broke from reliable sources in Holland and England that a deal to take Gakpo to Liverpool was all but done.

Van Dijk went onto Instagram post-game, writing: “Back at it!" with Gakpo then responding to the message with clapping and fire emojis.

Van Dijk had also spoken post-game with reporters, suggesting a new arrival to the club was imminent.

The Gakpo move is not officially confirmed, but is expected to go through in the next few days.
