Fulham manager Silva: Onana and McTominay key for Man Utd win

Fulham manager Marco Silva believes Scott McTominay and Andre Onana played key roles for Manchester United at the weekend.

The Red Devils had to work hard and ride their luck to win 1-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Bruno Fernandes scored the only goal in the 95th minute, but his countryman Silva reserved praise for McTominay and Onana post-game.

He told club media after full-time: “It's a really difficult one to take.

“Overall, we have to say we were the best team on the pitch, but again it's the same old story. That was the reality of the afternoon again. First half was 50/50 and Man United started slightly better than us, I have to say.

“McTominay was most dominant in certain areas of the pitch. After that we adjusted and started to come into the game but the first half was 50/50. Second half was completely different. We adjusted some things at half-time and we were the best team on the pitch second half."

Silva added: “We didn't give almost anything to them. We created enough to score, very good saves from Onana. Even so, we should have created so much more because we arrived so well in dangerous areas that we should have created more with the right decision.

“Unfortunately we didn't and we were punished by 10 seconds that is difficult to understand how that happened with us because it's not the first time."
