Frustrated De Gea closer to Man Utd exit as PSG circle

David de Gea is prepared to leave Manchester United for a Champions League club this summer.

The Manchester Evening News says De Gea, 28, would use the opening weeks of the summer to identify the shortcomings that led to an under-par campaign after winning the club's player of the year award in four of the previous five seasons.

De Gea, whose errors during the Premier League run-in last season contributed to the Reds' failure to finish in the top four, is under contract at Old Trafford until June 2020 and failed to agree a new contract at the club last season.

The Spain international is intent on adding a Champions League winner's medal to his collection and it is understood that United's failure to qualify for next season's competition formed part of De Gea's decision to stall on a new deal.

And with Gigi Buffon leaving PSG, De Gea is now emerging as a top target for the Paris giants.
