From Moscow to Saint Petersburg - World Cup 2018: Day Sixteen

Over the next month, I'll be covering the World Cup for Tribalfootball. And along the way, I'd like to share with you some of my experiences and keep you up to date with all the action!

Moscow at night

Miraculously we have survived a day without football. One of the few benefits was being able to walk around Moscow at night. It is a city that comes alive when the sun sets. And a special atmosphere was provided with the thousands of people from all over the globe strolling around the streets.

Spa si ba?

One constant problem with being in Russia is the language barrier. Hello, how are you, how much is this, Toilet? Nothing. The funniest instance of a linguistic challenge that I have faced was in Saint Petersburg. Being my first day in the city, I wasn't used to the train system. The train station attendant was prepared, as you can see below, but it didn't help much. The positive thing has been the response to what can at times be a frustrating exercise, with most encounters ending in a laugh. Except for the train lady, she was furious.

They're back

Argentina continue their quest for glory today against France, and everyone in Russia is grateful for their presence. Last night they were back with flags and drum in tow, entertaining the crowd that had formed in Moscow. In our other game we have Uruguay vs. Portugal, a meeting of the two most drab teams in the competition. Hopefully Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez/Edinson Cavani turn it on or we could have a nap until penalties.
