Broadcaster Fox Sports has reportedly signed a AUS$200 million (US$145 million), four-year deal for the rights to show Australia's A-League, over the next four seasons.
According to the Sunday Herald Sun, Football Federation Australia (FFA) will confirm the agreement later this week, with Fox shelling out AUS$50 million per year for the rights package.
This could rise to over AUS$60 million if the FFA is able to negotiate an additional free-to-air component to the contract early next year. The arrangement also includes digital distribution rights.
The deal sees Fox Sports almost doubling its annual commitment to football in Australia. Including its separately negotiated agreement for the country's national team fixtures, it is now investing AUS$55 million per year into the sport.
The deal begins next October, with the start of the 2017/18 A-League season, and expires at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
