Former junior: Barcelona midfielder Pedri will be as great as he wants to be

The former junior coach of Barcelona midfielder Pedri says he's sure to prove himself with Spain at the World Cup.

Rubén Delgado coached Pedri with Tegueste before he was eventually scouted and signed by Las Palmas.

He recalled to TMW: "Talent alone isn't enough if you don't have the head. Well, Pedri has always had both: feet and brains. He has always been a child, and then a boy, good and humble. Since I trained him here in the Canary Islands we have never lost contact and the thing that surprises me the most every time is that he himself is the one who worries about his people, asking us how we are and what we are doing. From the first time I saw him, I knew there was something special about Pedri.

"Pedri has always had an edge over the others. As a child he didn't try to make tunnel or rabone, but only to make the right play at the right time. He has a way of thinking and seeing football, a gift, that only the great champions have.

"Pedri will arrive wherever he wants to go, he is the typical person who always gets what he aims at with a spirit of sacrifice, humility and work. Someone like him has no limits, Pedri is the only one who can decide what his point of arrival will be. But the road is still long..."
