Former France coach Michel Hidalgo has hailed the development of Patrice Evra since his move to Manchester United.
Evra is France's World Cup captain in South Africa this month.
Hidalgo told manutd.com: "He always had the same qualities he has now before arriving in Manchester. But he was not so decisive like he is with Manchester United now. He has developed into a very good defender, very consistent, who also knows how to get involved in the attacking side of play within the team on the left wing.
"He has evolved into a better player, an international player, much more complete. Thanks to Manchester United, he is top drawer now, they have helped make him French team captain, and that says a lot."
