Former Manchester United goalkeeper Raimond van der Gouw believes Victor Valdes can be the club's next No.1.

The Dutchman says Valdes is good enough to step in for David de Gea should the Spaniard leave for Real Madrid this summer.

"With what he knows about football and the way he is playing, he is perfect for United," said Van der Gouw of former Barcelona keeper Valdes.

"He can play for another three or four years in a top team.

"(Edwin) Van der Sar played and did a great job."
