Fletcher says Wickham must stay with Sunderland

Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher is keen for Connor Wickham to pen new terms.

The young forward is off contract in June.

"Connor is still young a just wants to play," said Fletcher.

"I had to play out wide in the early stages of my career and it's good to get some experience out there. He is learning well and learning quick, which is good for him and the club.

"He would run all day for you, I wish I still had the legs he has got.

"He took his goal very well, proving how important he is, and his cross led to my second goal. Jack Rodwell is claiming it was his assist!

"This should be the start for us now and the boys all know that."
