Fiorentina coach Italiano admits Venezia defeat a blow

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano admits defeat to Venezia on Monday night was a blow.

The Viola were stunned 1-0 by the Serie A minnows.

“It's a step back in terms of result, but we played the game as we had prepared it," Italiano told DAZN.

“We stayed in their own half for the entire first half, but right now we struggle to be effective inside the 18-yeard box.

“It's a negative result, but the performance was adequate. The road is still long, 31 games are remaining. We must improve and we knew it even before the game.

“We did well in the first half, we were not as clear-headed in the second half, but you have to deal with opponents as well.

“They defended the result. Despite that, we created many chances also in the second half. We only made one mistake and we paid for it. Right now, one mistake is enough to concede. We did what we could, it's still early in the season."
