Manchester United have failed with an opening bid for Feyenoord fullback Daryl Janmaat.
The Daily Star Sunday says United are understood to have offered around £4million.
But Feyenoord want £7m for a player who has looked comfortable on the World Cup stage.
Newcastle are keen to sign Janmaat as a replacement for Mathieu Debuchy, who is poised to join Arsenal - if the Gunners can match the £12m asking price.
